My party
One of the things that has been taking up Mama’s time in the last few weeks is party prep. You’d think that having a potluck would make it easier, and she says in some ways it does, but there’s so many other things which go along with having an annual party in an old house. This year, one of those things was the installation of a new potty in the downstairs. The biggest news about this will appear at the end of the post.
The day before the party, AC came over and kept me company while Mama and Daddy ran thither and yon doing ridiculous things that probably no one else but them noticed. AC was my best buddy for close to 12 hours that day and for the majority of the day of the party. Mama has no idea how she’d have gotten anything done if it hadn’t have been for her. And yet, there are no photos of AC in her pretty party dress. Why it gotta be like that, Mama?
AC was the one who took me into the new potty room on the morning of the parade and let me be the one to christen the toilet. So I didn’t let her down and provided an incredibly hefty treasure! Yayyyy!
Then the guests began to arrive. At first I wasn’t sure what to make of all the big kids coming into my house and grabbing all of my toys. I kept running to Mama and asking her to hold me. For a while she did but then she had to hand me off to AC so that she could finish doing the things that a hostess does. AC and Deend kept me busy while Mama finished up the first round of duties.
This is my Deend.

Once the parade started, everyone who went by either nodded at him or walked over to shake his hand. My Deend must be a very important man.
My Auntie Cathy came to surprise him. He was certainly surprised!

My friends Stella, SM and Mr Sean also came to the parade. I spent a lot of time hanging around them as well. They’re my good buds.

I also made a few new friends this year. We were all very serious about our parade watching as you can tell.

Please note the watermelon stains all over my shirt and the skinned knees. I’m a hardcore partier it turns out. I also like to dance and march like a wild woman. Daddy got me doing my best Phish dance in the next photo.

Thank you to Karis once again for getting me my party shirt!

And thanks to Austin and Wyatt for making the trek again this year. It just wouldn’t be the Fourth without you guys!

Sadly, this is where Mama’s downtime and opportunities to take photos came to an end. I began to get more and more involved in trying to walk along with the bands and she had to stop taking photos to make sure she didn’t lose me in the crowd! But I had a great time, I didn’t cry at all, and I played until I crashed late that afternoon.

On Sunday we chilled out with Rob, Karean and Baby Z. Mama wanted to hold him for a while…and I was not ok with this. I came up, pushed his chest lightly and said “My Mama, MY Mama”. Then, when Mama brought out the Bumbo for him to borrow I absolutely lost my mind. Mama said I was too big to sit in it any more, but I was NOT happy about this development. After they left, Mama sat me down on her lap, held my hands and looked into my eyes and told me all the things she loved best about me. Slowly my face began to change from reticent to glowing. My Mama knows me too well.
Anyway, what’s the big news about the potty? Here it is: from Saturday until this morning when SM picked me up to go to her house to play, I used the potty for all pee/poo duty (except when I was asleep). I even woke up two mornings and asked Mama if I could go potty and she found that my overnight diaper was relatively dry—but boy did I make a lot of pee in the potty! We’ll see how this goes today once I’m back playing hard at SM’s and using a “strange” potty again. It might just be the magic of the new potty in our house, but Mama hopes not!

Happy Fourth of July everyone!

On Friday I was supposed to go to the Science Center with my friend, Owen, and his mother, Nicol, but Mama fell down the stairs the day before and broke her hiney. So instead I stayed home on Friday and played with AC while Mama went to the dr and to get xrays.
On Saturday, Mama’s hiney was feeling stir crazy, so she very grumpily dragged me to see Alina and her mother, Joanna. It was Joanna’s birthday party and she had four candles!
While I was there I played with Alina (18mos) and her neighbor, Zoe (2yrs). We had a good time, even though I accidentally got carried away with Alina’s baby doll stroller and ran it into Alina’s legs as she was running past. Sorry for that face plant, Alina!

Today I went to visit my friend, Austin, his brother, Wyatt, and his parents, T and S. I had a great time running around their house, playing with cars and Bonz, and falling in love. I have a thing for older men, apparently, because I just could not get enough of Wyatt. I followed him around, played with his toys in his room, and generally adored him. But I kept it cool, I kept it cool, I acted aloof because that’s what boys like.

I just have one thing to say: Look out, Jenna, because I’m going to break-up your kindergarten fairy tale wedding plans! Oh, but wait, what about Austin?

Me and Stella, We Go Together Like Peas and Carrots

That’s my girl, Stella. She came over a week ago while our mommies made bread together. (Mama is just now feeling up to catching up on photos and my updates.)

You should’ve seen my face light up when Stella came over to the play area. I really wanted her to sit and play with me—I was clapping my hands to my legs, kicking my feet and squealing, but Stella got distracted by Mama getting up to grab the camera. So SM had to help by holding Stella down to reenact our earlier lovefest. See how my hand is reaching up? I was getting ready to do to Stella what I always do to Mama—the full-handed love pinch on her cheeks. Stella didn’t like it and her mommy had to pull her away. When she put Stella back close to me, this is what happened…

Turnabout is fair play, after all. I don’t think I cried too much about it because I like Stella too much. Plus, I left some marks on both of her cheeks, so I couldn’t be too upset with her when I started it all. Water under the bridge, we played for a bit.

Lots of things have happened this last week: I found my nose! Mostly I found it because of my allergies and my cold, which made my nose feel so funny I started sticking my finger up the nostrils. Who knew you could do that? I like to do it because Mama laughs at me. Mama also laughs when I pick at her Eeyore pajama pants. I’ve been doing this for several weeks, so the other day Mama decided to give me my own Eeyore to see what I would do. She should have known what I would do!

I’ve also been doing a LOT of boundary pushing. Mostly this involves fit having, but sometimes it involves some creative thinking on my part. For instance, yesterday Mama told me I had to find a way to entertain myself on my play blanket because she absolutely had to get something done in the kitchen. Since I refuse to use the pack’n'play or sit on the floor in the kitchen without having a fit, she left me there to figure it out for myself. When she came back, this is how I was entertaining myself.

Mama has been rotating in new toys and books to stimulate my mind. One of the things she’s been thinking about lately is whether or not I will ever take a bath by myself, so she got a bunch of new toys. You can’t see them in this photo (and please try not to look too hard at our gross bathtub—maybe that’s what makes me scream), but she got me some boats and a Hello Kitty bucket to play with in the tub. I really like them, and maybe soon we can try my having a bath by myself. Once I figure out how not to fall over in the tub, because I get really freaked out if water gets anywhere near my ears.

For some reason, the fact that I’m slightly afraid of water always makes Daddy say how much I’m going to love swimming. And he’s not joking or being facetious. I think Daddy is a retard.
